Fourth edition consolidates success of Tissue Summit Brazil

The event included exclusive lectures, in addition to tissue & personal care panels, where executives and important players in the sector were able to discuss the main market trends

After the morning program and the brunch break, the Tissue Summit Brazil 2024 resumed the schedule of presentations on its last day with Michel Borges Piroutek, research analyst at Euromonitor, the world’s leading provider of global business intelligence, market analysis and consumer insights, who gave the talk “The Brazilian Tissue & Hygiene market gains relevance in the global scenario: main trends and how inflation and sustainability impact consumption”.

On this occasion, Michel presented data on the Tissue and Hygiene market, focusing on the retail trade. Among the topics discussed, he explained why Brazil is gaining relevance in the global scenario, occupying the fourth place in revenue in the sector between 2024 and 2025, including factors such as expansions of existing mills, new mills built and mergers and acquisitions, in addition to the potential for growth in per capita consumption.

The expert also discussed how inflation impacts the Tissue and Hygiene market due to decelerated consumption and consumer concern about prices, resulting in trends such as lower brands and increased consumption of private label.

Finally, Michel spoke about the trends and impacts of sustainability in the sector and highlighted that, despite having a lower average income, Brazilian consumers are more concerned about looking for products with a sustainable approach.

Next, Claus Robberts, president of ProJet B.V., which designs and manufactures high quality cleaning and cutting machines for paper manufacturing lines, nonwovens, glass mat manufacturing lines, wood panels, insulation mats and plaster, gave a presentation titled “High pressure transverse cleaners for paper, board and tissue machines”.

During the talk, he addressed the advantages of the company’s transversal cleaners, highlighting the differences that the solutions offer compared to its competitors, such as lower water consumption, smaller spray nozzles and higher pressure.

Then, Archroma, a global and diversified leader in specialty chemicals, presented “Tissue & Paper Strategy – covering sustainability and the novelties that Archroma has in its Tissue portfolio”, detailed by Ricardo Toigo, Head of Sales – PP&C Brazil.

Toigo presented Archroma’s history and product portfolio, with a focus on sustainable solutions for the tissue market, such as Leucophor® AFCN optical brightening agent, Archroma’s exclusive technology, recently introduced in the Brazilian market, as well as the company’s goal to lead the chemical industry towards a more sustainable future for its customers and the market. In addition, the executive highlighted the company’s broad technological offering derived from innovations for the global tissue market and its commitment to safety and sustainability.

Concluding the second block of talks of the day, Geovane Cruz, Area Sales Manager Latin America of Firefly, a Swedish company that works in fire prevention, led the presentation “How to protect your industry with cutting-edge technology”.

Detailing how the company’s solutions can help in fire prevention, Geovane highlighted how Firefly’s technology detects hot spots in the first moments, extinguishing the fire with a minimum amount of water, through a mist with millions of microdroplets that expand 1,700 times their volume when in contact with the flame.

To end the cycle of presentations at the Tissue Summit, the last talk of the day was given by Fábio Brasiliano, Environmental Director of Abihpec (Brazilian Association of the Personal Hygiene, Perfumery and Cosmetics Industry), who addressed “Climate change and challenges in the HPPC sector”.

On this occasion, Fábio spoke about Abihpec, highlighting the impacts of HPPC products on people’s daily lives, and presented relevant data about the industry and the consumer market in Brazil, the fourth place in the world ranking. The executive also highlighted the importance of the sustainable use of biodiversity and gave details about Abihpec’s reverse logistics and circular economy program, “Mãos pro future”, which includes the three fundamentals of sustainability: environmental preservation, social benefit and economic viability.

Finally, in a panel discussion moderated by Felipe Quintino, founder and CEO of Nexum Group, personal care manufacturers discussed market trends in the adult, infant and urinary incontinence diaper segments, in addition to presenting their views on the sector’s growth prospects and consumer awareness, which is increasingly oriented towards sustainability. The panel was composed of Luis Delfim, CEO of Softys, Ronaldo Art, Marketing and Sustainability Director of Kimberly-Clark, Rodrigo Zerbini, CEO of CCM, and André Aguiar, Consumer Director of Essity.
