The Irving Pulp & Paper and Irving Tissue mills in Saint John, Canada, successfully completed a major 15-day scheduled shutdown with zero accidents, underscoring the company’s commitment to operational excellence and safety. During this period, over $34 million was invested in upgrades and maintenance, covering nearly all areas of the facilities. Key improvements included boiler inspections and repairs, along with the installation of a new tissue paper machine winder, essential for ensuring operational efficiency and sustainability.
At the peak of the shutdown, more than 1,750 employees and contractors were on-site, creating significant job opportunities for skilled regional workers.
