Principle Business Enterprises expands production for plus-size incontinence products
The company doubled manufacturing capacity to better serve plus-size consumers, marking 20 years of innovation with new product launches and facility expansion
Principle Business Enterprises, Inc. (PBE), a manufacturer of personal care and incontinence products, has announced a strategic investment aimed at doubling its production capacity for absorbent products tailored to the plus-size community. This expansion coincided with the 20th anniversary of PBE’s launch of Tranquility® 3XL to 5XL disposable briefs, the first incontinence products specifically designed for plus-size individuals.
Recognizing the distinct challenges faced by the plus-size community, PBE has committed significant research and development resources to enhance its offerings, aligning with the company’s mission to “uplift, enlighten and enrich” consumers’ lives.

As we thought about this new manufacturing line, it was important to capture what consumers need today, while allowing for future flexibility,” stated Ann Hertzfeld, PBE VP of R&D and customer experience. “Our innovation efforts will bring new designs that offer unparalleled comfort, absorbency and fit for plus-sized consumers with heavy to severe incontinence”.
The expansion, slated for completion in 2025, will take place at PBE’s facility in Dunbridge, Ohio. This development underscores PBE’s commitment to maintaining high-quality manufacturing jobs in the region.

In addition to the expanded production capacity, PBE recently introduced its first 3XL disposable pull-on underwear, available in two protection levels: Tranquility Premium OverNight™ Underwear and Tranquility Essential® Underwear – Heavy. These products accommodate waistlines up to 95 inches, with the OverNight version being the first 3XL underwear on the market to feature 100% breathable materials, promoting skin health.
These initiatives are part of PBE’s comprehensive multi-year strategy to bolster its manufacturing capabilities, supported by significant advancements in R&D, product management, and operations.
