Sofidel recognized as a climate leader in Europe 2024
Sustainability and transparency in reducing emissions in Europe
Sofidel has been highlighted in the “Europe’s Climate Leaders 2024” list, compiled by the Financial Times in collaboration with data provider Statista, for its outstanding contribution to emissions reductions. Sofidel’s inclusion in this list is due to its achievement of “the largest reduction in its core emissions intensity between 2017 and 2022.”
The report highlights the growing commitment of European companies to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, in line with the objectives of the EU Green Deal to achieve climate neutrality. Despite the challenges posed by new regulations and stricter sustainability requirements, significant progress in climate change mitigation is being made by several companies across Europe.
The assessment focuses on the reduction of Scope 1 and 2 emissions over a five-year period (2017-2022). These emissions include those from the company’s own operations and from energy used, respectively.
Sofidel has demonstrated its commitment not only to reducing these emissions, but also to being transparent about Scope 3 emissions, which arise in other parts of its value chains.
