UK’s public health system integrates bamboo hygiene products from The Cheeky Panda

Bamboo hygiene brand supports the Greener NHS initiative, providing PFAS-free products to the healthcare system

The Cheeky Panda, a brand known for its bamboo hygiene products, has secured a place in the NHS supply chain, the UK’s public health system. The partnership includes the distribution of bamboo toilet paper, facial tissues, pocket tissues, and straws, all tested and free from PFAS, chemicals commonly found in recycled products.

As part of the Greener NHS initiative, which aims to make the NHS the world’s first net-zero health system by 2040, adopting The Cheeky Panda’s products demonstrates the NHS’s commitment to sustainable practices. The inclusion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the procurement process also strengthens the diversity of the NHS supply chain.

Bamboo, the core material of The Cheeky Panda’s products, grows up to 30 times faster than trees and requires no fertilizers or pesticides. The products are also cruelty-free and come in fully recyclable packaging, aligning with the NHS’s focus on reducing waste and adopting greener alternatives.

Chris Forbes, CEO and co-founder of The Cheeky Panda, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We have been winning more and more government contracts via our supply chain distributors and we are incredibly proud to be listed with the NHS, a cornerstone of the UK’s public services”.

Forbes also highlighted the benefits of the products for those with sensitive skin: “70 per cent of the people in the UK will at some point be affected by sensitive skin and if by using our tissues they experience a more soothing comfortable experience than recycled tissue we hope it will aid in comfort and recovery”.
