Navigator acquires Gomà-Camps Group’s Consumer Tissue business
The acquisition of the company is part of the group's growth strategy in the tissue segment
Recently, Navigator, one of the largest Portuguese tissue paper manufacturers, formalized the acquisition of the consumer tissue business of the Spanish Gomà-Camps Consumer (GC Consumer).
The acquisition is part of the Navigator group’s growth and diversification plan, strengthening its position as the second largest tissue producer in Iberia, with an annual production capacity of 165 thousand tonnes.
In the last year, GC Consumer had a sales volume of EUR 116 million, which joint around 200 million euros of Navigator sales in this business segment.
According to the company, this is the most modern operation – created in 2005 and expanded in 2018 – belonging to one of the oldest and most prestigious Spanish family businesses, with more than 260 years of history in paper production.
As a result of this investment and its strategic location in Ejea de los Caballeros (Zaragoza), the integration of this new factory should contribute to a new cycle of growth in this business. As a result, Navigator estimates that it will have around EUR 300 million in consolidated sales from high quality tissue paper.
The acquisition of GC Consumer is complementary to the activity currently carried out by the group, both from an industrial and commercial point of view. The integration of the new factory will enable a more optimized management of the Iberian customer portfolio, will help to boost the exploration of new businesses in Spain and France, as a result of the strategic location in Zaragoza, and should allow the capture of operational synergies.
The Group intends to continue GC Consumer’s business and incorporate the broad know-how, talent and extensive experience of its professionals, exploring opportunities to strengthen the position of this joint operation in the global market.
