As a way of lessening the impact of product price increases in the most vulnerable communities in Mexico, based on the indicators registered by inflation during most of this year, two products of great importance were included in the Anti-Inflation and Hunger Package (PACIC) 2023, said Ernesto “Kiko” Munro López, a local deputy.
With the measure, diapers and pads are included in the list of products whose value is regulated by the Mexican authorities, as they are considered essential for certain groups of society.
According to López, the effort will be maintained for the federal government to include them in the sector of first need of the population of Sonora.
In voting, the project was supported by most of the deputies in general, however the representatives of the PAN and Movimiento Ciudadano (Citizen movement) were against this proposal.
“This plan created by the federal government aims to achieve an 8 percent reduction in the price of key products, and aims to contain the cost of basic products by eliminating import barriers and reducing some exports of food,” López said.
