CMPC opens office in Finland

The new location allows the Chilean multinational to get closer to the market in the Nordic countries

With a focus on innovation and venture capital, the Chilean CMPC opened an office in Finland, which will enable a connection to the existing innovation ecosystems in the Nordic countries, as well as disruptive ideas in the region, which, in the company’s view, are the “present and the future for the pulp and paper industry worldwide”.

This is the multinational’s second office in Europe, which has a consolidated presence in 12 countries around the world, including the U.S.

“A few years ago, we decided to make a serious commitment to innovation. The forestry sector in general and CMPC in particular have a lot of room to grow as we move forward because our products, based on cellulose vegetable fiber, are specifically the kinds that are carefully studied here,” said Francisco Ruiz-Tagle, general manager of CMPC.

“In both Sweden and Finland we have heard just one message: advancing to these levels of development and well-being requires joint work between governments, the private sector and universities. Therein lies the secret of the success of the Nordic countries that we admire so much,” said Luis Felipe Gazitúa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CMPC.

The multinational enters the Finnish market with a new sustainable fiber option for the textile market, offering an alternative based on wood and plant-based raw materials to respond to the sustainability challenges of this industry, foreseeing that the sustainable cellulose chips market grows by more than 10% in the next decade.
