Domtar joins U.S. Army PaYS program to support veteran employment
Partnership ensured job opportunities for veterans and strengthens commitment to supporting military communities

Domtar has officially partnered with the U.S. Army’s Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) program, enhancing job opportunities for veteran’s post-service. This collaboration ensures that veterans whose skills align with Domtar’s job openings receive guaranteed interviews. If selected, veterans will then proceed through Domtar’s standard hiring process.
The partnership was formalized in a ceremony at Domtar’s Fort Mill, South Carolina office, where Paper & Packaging president Steve Henry and U.S. Army Lt. Col. Julian Milligan signed the agreement. The event was attended by employees, veterans, and Fort Mill Mayor Guynn Savage, and featured special recognition of veteran employees.
“Having a direct connection to such a large and diverse talent base through the PaYS program is going to provide us with a pipeline of highly skilled candidates to help build our workforce”, Henry stated. “More importantly, our becoming a PaYS partner reinforces our ongoing commitment to supporting our military veterans and the communities where our employees live and work”.
Lt. Col. Milligan emphasized the broader significance of the PaYS program, stating: “We are investing in our sons and daughters while preparing for the future. We strive to set standards for strength, innovating and being resilient in building exceptional teams, ready to win in increasingly complex environments”.
Eric Haggard, director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Paper Excellence Group highlighted the value veterans bring to the workforce: “We recognize the unique skills and invaluable life experiences that veterans can bring to the workforce. We’re eager to speak to them about possible employment at our manufacturing sites or corporate offices”.
During the event, Domtar also presented a USD$5,000 donation to Veterans Bridge Home to support veterans’ transition to civilian life. Additionally, Marlboro Mill manager, Allan Bohn, announced the establishment of a veterans-focused business resource group for Domtar employees.
