
International Paper recorded a net loss of US$ 318 million in the fourth quarter of 2022, against a profit of US$ 107 million reported in the same period in 2021. Revenue, in turn, grew 0.8% in the annual comparison, to $5.13 billion.
According to the agency “Dow Jones Newswires”, market analysts expected a net profit of US$ 250 million and revenue of US$ 5.19 billion.
Despite the weak quarter, the company maintained a positive result for the year. For 2022, the pulp and paper maker reported a 9.3% growth in revenue, to US$ 21.16 billion, as well as a profit of US$ 4.10 per share, retreating 8% from the previous year.
“In 2022, International Paper grew revenue and earnings in a dynamic and challenging macro environment and returned $1.9 billion to our shareowners,” said Mark Sutton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
