Metsä Tissue completes strategic restructuring at its Kreuzau mill

Plan includes investments to strengthen future operations and avoid compulsory redundancies, with 93 positions affected

Metsä Tissue has finalized negotiations regarding restructuring at its Kreuzau tissue mill in Germany, resulting in a workforce reduction of 93 positions, lower than the initially estimated 123. The adjustment was carried out without compulsory redundancies.

“We are firmly committed to the future of Kreuzau mill. With the jointly developed plan to realign the mill and the associated investments, we are laying the foundation for a competitive future production. We are not only securing remaining jobs but also strengthening our role as a reliable partner for sustainable hygiene tissue papers – today and in the future,” said Tobias Lüning, SVP West and Country Manager of Metsä Tissue GmbH.

As one of the largest tissue paper mills in Europe, Kreuzau plays a key role in Metsä Group’s operations, supplying high-quality fresh fiber tissue products to customers across Central Europe. The realignment plan aims to enhance the mill’s long-term viability and reinforce its contribution to sustainable tissue production.
