Sofidel Group announces the passing of its co-founder, Emi Stefani

The executive was one of the protagonists in the history of the tissue paper industry development

On Tuesday, 28th, Emi Stefani, co-founder of the Sofidel Group in 1966 and president of the company until March 2021, died at the age of 91. He died suddenly at his home in Porcari, Italy.

Born on October 9th, 1930, in Villa Basilica, Emi Stefani was one of the protagonists in the history of the development of the tissue paper industry. According to people close to him, Emi was an industrialist with great vision, skill at work, courage, and rare human sensitivity.

“Today I lose my father, who was an extraordinary example for me and my whole family. As a businessman, one of the great papermakers, and as a man, whose recognized qualities of loyalty, sincerity and human empathy have made him appreciated by many in his long years of activity. A universe of affection, the one he leaves behind, which now helps us to get through this difficult time,” declared Edilio Stefani, son of Emi and president of the Sofidel Group.

“Emi Stefani was a second father to me. A reference figure who supported and sustained me since I joined the company. His passion for the company, his ability to face challenges, his natural predisposition to human relationships made the entire Sofidel community richer and stronger, which today unanimously embraces him and thanks him with enormous affection and gratitude for all he has been able to give,” commented the CEO of Sofidel, Luigi Lazzareschi.

Emi Stefani’s funeral will take place on Thursday 30th at the parish church of S. Giusto in Porcari.
