UPM Raflatac achieves its sustainability goals with Forest with Forest Certification for its Labeling Papers
Company demonstrates strong environmental commitment by obtaining third-party certification for all papers used in labelstock, exceeding expectations six years ahead of 2030 target
UPM Raflatac has announced that all of its purchased papers, used both as face paper and release liner in its labeling materials, have obtained certification under a rigorous third-party forestry scheme. This achievement, reached six years ahead of the 2030 target, demonstrates the company’s strong commitment to its climate and responsible sourcing objectives by obtaining third-party certification for all papers used in its labeling materials.
UPM Raflatac Vice President Sourcing Maria Seppälä said. “Reaching our 2030 target this far in advance is a significant milestone that we could not have achieved without the support and close collaboration of our suppliers, and the drive and commitment of our employees. Third-party forest certification is one important element in our responsible sourcing approach, combined with supplier assessment and development activities, as well as continuous risk monitoring and management”
The company highlights the increasing pressure generated by a dynamic regulatory environment, driving companies to improve the traceability of their raw materials and adopt responsible sourcing practices. In this context, by obtaining certification for all its papers through FSC™ (FSC C012530), PEFC (PEFC/02-31-196) or PEFC-endorsed systems, it strategically positions its customers to effectively achieve their responsible sourcing goals.
This achievement underscores the company’s ability to lead in sustainable practices and proactively adapt to changing environmental regulations and market expectations.
