Where Tissue Happens: a newsletter to tell the story of TissueHub

We started the year with the launch of a new newsletter

“Where Tissue Happens” is Gambini’s newsletter entirely dedicated to the Research & Development department, our TissueHub. It is the only plant in the world to host a converting pilot line with a full width (2,850 mm), on which every day we test new ideas for tissue rolls or develop new technologies. For ourselves or on behalf of our customers.

The desire for a newsletter dedicated exclusively to TissueHub arises from our attention to the finished product.

Our technology is oriented towards the end consumer and has always been developed and designed to be a flexible solution, which takes into account different needs and heterogeneous markets.

The products we think of and test at TissueHub are conceptual rolls, in the sense that they are ideas for products that could be easily industrialised with minor adaptations, largely dependent on the base paper used and the production habits of our customers.

“Concept rolls,” as we have named them, because they respond to the idea of the finished product that we have in mind.

These Concept rolls can take on the ideal characteristics of a specific type of use and need. They take on the appearance that the end consumers expect when they grab them on the supermarket shelf and take them home: with the softness, absorbency, and diameter that their market requires.

Concept rolls embody the needs of the final customer, anticipating and facilitating the work of the producers who, with us, embrace a philosophy of the supply chain that is thus renewed.

That’s how we did with our wet embosser, the AirMill, which introduced the use of water into the converting process, an element that was previously typical of the previous production phase, paper-making, which takes place in the paper mill.

With our method, we anticipate the needs of the producers who buy our lines, helping them think about the end consumers, producing technologies already oriented to their needs.

The centrality of the finished product is the cornerstone of TissueHub, which, thanks to its full-width pilot line, is able to produce realistic rolls: Concept rolls are in fact real finished products, we could say “1:1”, with measurable, replicable characteristics and unprecedented reliability.

Thanks to the pilot line, at TissueHub we are able to offer unique possibilities to our customers: from the creation of customized products to the study of embossing patterns (thanks to our PatternLab), with the exclusive use of all the technologies featured on the line itself (including the G1 rewinder), in total confidentiality.

The TissueHub newsletter talks about the daily work of a team of experts and enthusiasts and the surprising results that, roll after roll, we are achieving. The issues, in four languages, will focus on the services, on our technologies, and on the Concept rolls created at TissueHub. A way to stay up to date on the news, to fully understand the possibilities of TissueHub and to embrace a philosophy that always puts the finished product at the center.
