The TENA SmartCare Change Indicator is a technological innovation that helps caregivers by indicating the right time to change absorbent products. The system reduces waste, improves patient well-being and optimizes the routine of healthcare professionals.
The device created by TENA, Essity’s global brand of urinary incontinence products, is applied to the outside of the diaper, monitors the level of moisture and transmits the data in real time to the caregivers’ smartphones. This allows changes to be carried out more efficiently, without the need for constant manual checks.
The solution provides significant benefits, such as a 68% reduction in leaks, ensuring better skin health and preventing incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD). In addition, there is a 30% drop in the time dedicated to incontinence care, easing the burden on caregivers. Other positive impacts include 25% fewer overnight interruptions, a 35% reduction in total absorbency and an annual saving of up to 58 euros per person on products, as well as 800 euros in laundry costs.
Compatible with the TENA ProSkin range, the change indicator is reusable – lasting up to three months – easy to clean and designed for user comfort. The data collected by the transmitter is stored on a secure dashboard, allowing detailed reports to help personalize care according to patients’ needs.
