Clearwater Paper highlights achievements in sustainability and commitment to inclusion in 2023 annual report

Company unveils progress on multi-year goals, including validation of emissions reduction targets and successful launch of innovative products

Clearwater Paper has launched its 2023 Sustainability Report, an annual review that highlights the company’s progress toward its multi-year sustainability goals. In this report, it presents its new strategic sustainability framework, called “Everyday Responsibility.” This visionary approach guides the company’s sustainability initiatives in three key pillars: resource stewardship, reliable products, and supporting thriving people and communities.

In 2022, the company set long-term goals to address emissions reduction, resource conservation and corporate representation. The 2022 annual report details progress and features internal stories that illustrate the company’s commitment to day-to-day responsibility. It highlights achievements such as the validation of greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets through the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative and the successful commercial launch of NuVo® with BioPBS™, an innovative vessel material that combines high quality with a reduced environmental footprint.

In this regard, the corporation made progress in inclusion and diversity, increasing the representation of underrepresented groups in its workforce and improving policies and benefits. Safety risk was reduced by 26% through proactive controls, maintaining a safety-focused culture. In addition, a new materiality assessment was conducted to guide future priorities and initiatives. These achievements reflect the company’s continued commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility throughout its operations.
