Essity named CDP Supplier Engagement Leader for sixth consecutive year

Company reports 21% reduction in Scope 3 emissions and aims to reach 35% by 2030 through supplier collaboration

For the sixth year in a row, hygiene and health company Essity has been recognized as a global sustainability leader by the non-profit environmental organization CDP. The company has been included on CDP’s 2024 Supplier Engagement Leaderboard, which highlights top-performing companies in engaging suppliers to reduce value chain emissions.

As part of its strategy to reach net zero emissions by 2050, Essity is prioritizing environmental action across its entire supply chain. The company reported a 21% reduction in Scope 3 emissions in 2024, with a target of 35% reduction by 2030. Scope 3 includes emissions from purchased goods and services, transportation, and other indirect sources.

“Our approach to supplier collaboration is built on clear expectations, robust support, and the fostering of innovation. We communicate our environmental targets, provide the necessary tools and training, and encourage new solutions to reduce emissions”, said Jessica Nordlinder, VP Global Procurement at Essity.

Essity’s tissue operations across North America and globally rely on strategic supplier partnerships to achieve meaningful climate impact. The company emphasizes open communication and long-term engagement to ensure suppliers are aligned with its climate goals.

CDP’s Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA) evaluates companies based on governance, Scope 3 targets, value chain engagement, and emissions performance. It is widely regarded as one of the most trusted standards for corporate environmental accountability.
