First Quality announces $418 million expansion project in Macon

The hygiene producer significant investment in its Macon facility is settled to boost manufacturing capacity and job creation in the region

First Quality, a hygiene producer, has confirmed its expansion project, earmarked for its Macon, GA facility. The investment, valued at $418 million, will encompass a 50% increase in diaper and training pant manufacturing capacity, the installation of new production lines for diapers and training pants, and the establishment of a cutting-edge automated warehouse facility. This venture is projected to generate 600 new employment opportunities.

Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp expressed gratitude for First Quality’s decision to broaden its operations within the state, highlighting the significance of such initiatives in fortifying local economies. He stated: “We’re always thankful when job creators like First Quality choose to expand in Georgia, and we’ll keep working to strengthen these long-term partnerships that enrich communities in every corner of the state”.

Governor Kemp also underscored the state’s track record of fostering expansions by existing businesses, a trend anticipated to persist with the likes of First Quality’s undertaking.

The expansion plans extend beyond diaper and training pant production, with First Quality also increasing its capacity for bladder control pads, protective underwear, and underpads by over 25%. The company will introduce new manufacturing lines to meet rising demand and introduce innovative products not presently available in North America, along with enhanced features and cutting-edge technologies. The completion of this expansion is slated for September 2025.

Allen Bodford, president of First Quality’s Absorbent Hygiene Division, expressed enthusiasm for the project’s location in Macon, emphasizing the company’s dedication to innovation and market responsiveness. Bodford extended appreciation to Governor Kemp, the Georgia Department of Economic Development, and the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority for their support, as well as acknowledging the contributions of the company’s Macon-based team. He stated: “This expansion is a testament to First Quality’s innovative products and continuing commitment to the baby diaper market”.
