Georgia-Pacific has announced an investment of US$14 million to improve its plywood plant in Prosperity, South Carolina. The main focus of the project will be the modernization of the boiler, which will promote greater fuel efficiency, reduce environmental impact and generate new local jobs.

The boiler upgrade is part of an ongoing effort by the company to improve the plant and reinforce its commitment to sustainability. “By enhancing the boiler at the mill, we are continuing to show our commitment to continuous improvement and our dedication to reinvesting in the mill, the town of Prosperity, and the surrounding community,” said Kevin Livingston, plant manager of Georgia-Pacific’s Prosperity Plywood Mill. The company is also investing in other improvements to the facility, with the intention of transforming the unit into a 21st century mill, with a strong focus on responsible environmental practices.

The Prosperity Plywood mill, which has been in operation since 1975, is responsible for producing high-performance plywood products such as Plytanium Plywood and Ply-Bead. These products are widely used in residential and commercial construction projects, solidifying the plant’s importance to the construction market and its continued competitiveness.
