Georgia-Pacific’s GP PRO innovations aim to cut costs and reduce waste in high-traffic spaces

New battery-saving paper towel dispensers and space-efficient cutlery stations enhance sustainability and operational efficiency across foodservice and commercial facilities

GP PRO, a division of Georgia-Pacific, has introduced new hygiene and dispensing technologies aimed at improving operational efficiency and sustainability in foodservice, manufacturing, healthcare, and other high-traffic sectors. Known for brands like Dixie® and enMotion®, the company focuses on delivering customer-driven innovations that address real-world needs while minimizing environmental impact.

One of GP PRO’s latest developments is ECON Mode, a new energy-saving feature for enMotion® Paper Towel Dispensers. This technology automatically powers down dispensers after periods of inactivity, leaving a towel visibly hanging to prompt user activation. By pausing battery use, often for hours, ECON Mode extends battery life to five years — double that of the next leading competitor — and supports more than 110 towel rolls per battery cycle. This improvement is expected to help reduce both operating costs and battery waste. ECON Mode is now the default setting on all new enMotion® dispensers and was recognized with The ISSA Innovation Leaders Award in the Hygiene Solution Innovation of the Year category in Fall 2024.

In response to growing demand for space-efficient cutlery solutions, GP PRO also launched the Dixie Ultra® SmartStock® Mini Tri-Tower Cutlery Station, designed for breakrooms, convenience stores, and compact foodservice areas. Standing 17.5 inches tall, the Mini Tri-Tower fits beneath standard upper cabinets and holds 195 utensils. It complements the original 29-inch Tri-Tower, which accommodates 390 utensils.

Both cutlery stations feature one-at-a-time, touchless dispensing for knives, forks, spoons, or sporks, with wall-mount or countertop installation options. The system reduces cutlery usage by up to 31% compared to open bins and utilizes pre-configured refills for faster reload times.

Georgia-Pacific emphasizes continuous improvement as part of its core values. “We actively embrace creative destruction,” the company states, underscoring its commitment to enhancing product performance and sustainability while addressing customer needs across various industries.
