GP PRO unveils KOLO 2.0, its enhanced smart restroom monitoring system
The upgraded platform introduces improvements in hardware, connectivity, security and analytics to optimize facility cleaning management
GP PRO announced the release of new technological upgrades for its KOLO 2.0 smart monitoring system, designed to enhance restroom cleaning and maintenance operations. According to the company, the improvements enhance usability, operational efficiency and data security, reinforcing its commitment to innovation in facility management solutions.
The KOLO 2.0 hardware design was optimized to shorten deployment timelines and simplify installation. The solution leverages MachineQ technology, a Comcast company, and its upgraded Area 8c gateway, which offers flexible mounting and power options to reduce installation complexity. MachineQ gateways provide enterprise-grade secure connectivity, enabling the platform to collect large volumes of data from GP PRO dispensers, including product usage, battery levels and other key performance indicators. Using low-frequency, long-range LoRaWAN® technology, a single gateway can connect up to 10,000 devices.
By optimizing the system architecture and eliminating “collectors,” KOLO 2.0 reduces by up to 20% the number of battery-powered devices required. This decrease lowers operating costs, simplifies device inventory management and supports sustainability initiatives. End-to-end encryption and mutual authentication strengthen the system’s data security.
The platform also expands sensor compatibility across a broader range of GP PRO towel, tissue, soap and sanitizer dispensers. The redesigned navigation, built with universally recognizable icons, improves communication across multilingual teams. Self-service analytics allow cleaning teams and facility managers to perform independent assessments, supported by GP PRO customer success specialists. The system’s API was also upgraded to better integrate sensor data into existing workflows.
The KOLO system has been adopted in high-traffic locations such as stadiums, sports arenas, entertainment centers, airports, office buildings, restaurant chains, manufacturing plants and university campuses. Real-time alerts help reduce product outages, minimize waste and optimize staff allocation, resulting in 99.5% dispenser uptime. The system reduces unnecessary dispenser checks by 95% and supports cost efficiency and environmental responsibility through optimized product usage.
For Sage Realty, a Manhattan-based commercial real estate company, the platform reinforces its commitment to delivering superior tenant experiences. Its Director of Tenant Experience emphasized the value of a solution that operates quietly in the background while delivering operational excellence.
GP PRO will showcase its product innovations at the ISSA Show in Las Vegas from November 11–13, including updates to KOLO 2.0, the Premium Restroom collection and the Dixie Ultra® SmartStock® Mini Tri-Tower cutlery station, nominated for an ISSA Innovation Award. The KOLO team will also present a session at the BSCAI Contracting Success Conference.
