Starting this week, Klabin will carry out the 2023 General Shutdown at the Puma Unit, in the city of Ortigueira (Paraná), with the objective of ensuring the proper functioning and reliability of the equipment at the plant that produces fluff, short- and long-fiber pulp, and packaging paper.
Periods of downtime for maintenance are regulated by some sectors of the industry and, therefore, are in accordance with Brazilian legislation. The action will begin on April 10th, with completion scheduled for April 22nd.
In addition to being a time to carry out the necessary interventions to ensure the reliability of the operation and possible improvements, the General Shutdown provides several job opportunities for the region in which the unit is located.
Klabin is looking for companies and workers with adequate technical training, who meet the legal requirements for carrying out activities, as well as the best occupational health and safety practices that the market offers to support it in this period. A large part of this workforce comes from cities around the facility, a movement that requires infrastructure in areas that include logistics, accommodation, meals and others, moving the economy.
It is worth mentioning that the company defines the stages of work in accordance with the best project management practices, with a focus on safety, planning, integration and quality in the production processes of the manufacturing units.
Additionally, to preserve the health of professionals and the community, the company continues to maintain protocols, such as proof of the booster dose against Covid-19, hygiene and a dedicated cafeteria for workers at the General Shutdown, in addition to the inspection, for part of Klabin and contracted companies, in the places where employees will be staying.
The company has already carried out the General Shutdown at another unit during the month of March and has a schedule for the other units until July.
