Paper Excellence Group contributes US$100,000 and supplies to aid Hurricane Helene victims

The donation will support local organizations in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas as communities recover from the storm’s devastation

Paper Excellence Group companies, Domtar Corporation and Resolute Forest Products, have pledged US$100,000 in financial assistance to support four local communities impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The powerful storm affected several areas where Paper Excellence Group operates, impacting employees and their families. In collaboration with community officials, company representatives identified four charitable organizations that are providing direct aid to hurricane victims in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas.

Each of the following organizations will receive US$25,000 to facilitate localized assistance:

  • Cross City Restore and Renew (Cross City, Florida)
  • Tabitha’s Table (Jesup, Georgia)
  • USO/National Guard (South Carolina and North Carolina)
  • RegionAHEAD (Kingsport, Tennessee)

In addition to the financial support, Resolute Tissue is contributing 10 pallets of tissue products to residents in eastern Tennessee, which includes 11,520 rolls of Harmony® bath tissue and 3,360 rolls of Harmony paper towels.

Employees at the company’s Fort Mill and Bennettsville locations in South Carolina are organizing food and supply drives to assist communities in western North Carolina and surrounding areas. The Engineered Absorbent Materials facility in Jesup, Georgia, has opened its locker rooms for families needing showers and places to charge their devices. Meanwhile, in Plymouth, North Carolina, the wood procurement team has collaborated with the Carolina Logging Association to coordinate item donations and provide drinking water.

“Hurricane Helene devastated areas of the southeastern United States where our employees live and work”, said Steve Henry, president of Paper and Packaging for the Paper Excellence Group. “It’s heartwarming to see our employees leading supply drives and other charitable activities to support the thousands of individuals and families in crisis after Helene”.

As rebuilding efforts commence, the company plans to donate several truckloads of lumber to the Cross City, Florida, area.
