Sofidel Strengthens U.S. Presence with New Production Capacity Investment

The Italian group will install a TAD paper machine with an annual capacity of 75,000 metric tons, solidifying its position in the North American market

Sofidel, a tissue paper group headquartered in Lucca, Italy, and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sanitary and household paper, known in Italy and Europe for its Regina brand, announced a new investment to expand its production capacity in the United States.

The investment includes the installation of a TAD (Through-Air-Dried) paper machine with an annual production capacity of 75,000 metric tons, along with related converting lines to achieve equivalent capacity for finished products.

The exact location of the new investment, expected to be within one of Sofidel’s existing facilities, has not yet been determined, and the company is in contact with various public authorities to finalize the project. Start-up of the new machine is scheduled for the second quarter of 2028.

“With this new and significant investment, we are further strengthening our roots in the United States, enhancing our ability to meet customer demand and deliver top-quality products through TAD technology,” said Luigi Lazzareschi, CEO of Sofidel.

Currently, the Sofidel Group operates 14 production plants across 11 U.S. states (Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Illinois, Mississippi, Florida, Ohio, South Carolina, and North Carolina) and has a corporate office in Horsham, Pennsylvania. In just over 10 years, Sofidel has become the fourth-largest tissue paper producer in the North American market and a leader in private-label products.
