Talk Tissue with Gianni Gambini, Managing Director of North America at Gambini

The conversation highlights the company’s role in advancing tissue converting technologies and its vision for the North American market

In this episode of Talk Tissue, Brian Uzcategui speaks with Gianni Gambini, Managing Director of Gambini North America, a leading provider of tissue converting and embossing technologies.

Gianni shares how Gambini’s systems are designed to support tissue manufacturers worldwide, with a focus on helping customers develop new and distinctive products. Founded in 1870 in Lucca, Italy, Gambini has evolved from making agricultural tools to becoming a global name in the tissue industry since 1989. Today, the company combines cutting-edge technology with strong customer support, including a 24/7 care and spare parts center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

During the conversation, Gianni highlights several of Gambini’s key innovations. He recalls the launch of TouchMax in 2012, the first turret-style quick-change system for embossing rolls, which continues to be recognized for its product quality. He also discusses the AirMill wet embossing technology introduced in 2017, a process that uses water and heat to make fibers more malleable, allowing for the sustainable production of high-quality tissue products from conventional paper.

Another important initiative is the Tissue Hub in Lucca, a dedicated development center where customers can test products on a full-size converting line with support from experts and lab facilities. More recently, Gambini introduced the G1 rewinding technology in 2021, designed for simplicity and versatility across a wide range of tissue products.

From its history of innovation to its ongoing commitment to customer success, Gambini continues to shape the future of the tissue industry.
