West Fraser, a diversified wood products company, was recognized on National Philanthropy Day by STARS, a critical care transport service supporting rural, remote, and Indigenous communities across Western Canada. The award celebrates initiatives that bring positive change to Edmonton and Northern Alberta through charitable contributions and community support.
The company’s commitment to community health and safety is evident in partnerships such as the one established last spring. West Fraser facilitated landing zone training for local firefighters at its Grande Prairie mill, enhancing emergency response capabilities in various communities.
“For 20 years, West Fraser has proudly supported STARS as part of our dedication to the health and safety of the rural communities we serve. We deeply appreciate the STARS team for their lifesaving work and their daily efforts to improve health outcomes – you truly are heroes”, stated Keith Carter, West Fraser’s Senior Vice President for Western Canada.
