Jussi Vanhanen assumes role as CEO of Metsäliitto Cooperative and prepares to lead Metsä Group
Executive took office on May 1st and will become President and CEO of the group in July

As of May 1, 2025, Jussi Vanhanen has officially started as CEO of Metsäliitto Cooperative and joined the Executive Management Team of Metsä Group. On July 1, he will take over as President and CEO of Metsä Group, succeeding Ilkka Hämälä, who will remain in the role until June 30.
Vanhanen’s appointment was approved by the Board of Directors on April 29. According to Jussi Linnaranta, Chair of the Board, the transition is proceeding as expected: “Jussi Vanhanen’s familiarization with the position of President and CEO, which he will assume on 1 July 2025, has progressed as planned. There are now good grounds for him to take over some of the management responsibilities so that he can actively participate in the organization’s structural development. This will also enable the effective planning of strategic development actions”.
Vanhanen stepped down from the Board upon taking up the CEO position and now reports directly to the company’s Board of Directors.
