GreenCore and Merkas sign agreement to expand sustainable diapers in Europe

GreenCore Solutions Corp., a global specialist in cellulose-free diapers, has announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Merkas Tekstil Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., a Turkish manufacturer of air through bonded (ATB) nonwovens. The agreement provides for the supply of advanced substrates, such as ADL, and TopSheet cover layers for the TreeFree Diaper® line and FemCare UltraThin products in Europe.

With this partnership, Merkas joins GreenCore’s supply chain on the continent, supporting the brand’s expansion into supermarkets, pharmacies, and convenience stores. In addition, the Turkish manufacturer will participate in all bids conducted by GreenCore with major European buyers, consolidating its position in the ecosystem of sustainable diapers and feminine products.

Merkas has also joined PATH+ (Partner Alliance for Traceable Hygiene) as a verified upstream partner. As a result, it will now supply traceable materials that meet ESG criteria, strengthening the delivery of auditable, cellulose-free hygiene products. The initiative ensures greater transparency and compliance with European standards for retailers, OEM converters, and other members of the alliance.

Initial projections indicate an increase in production from 500 million m² to 2 billion m² per year, with a gradual ramp-up to meet GreenCore’s expansion strategy, which forecasts a presence in 5,000 points of sale by the end of 2026.
