Ontex launches Sensitive line for adult incontinence with a focus on skin protection
The solution for healthcare institutions combines high-performance absorption, hypoallergenic design and training initiatives for caregivers
Ontex announced the launch of the Sensitive line, a new adult incontinence product solution developed for healthcare institutions in Europe. The portfolio includes Sensitive Pants, Sensitive Slip and Sensitive Form, with a focus on absorption performance and the prevention of incontinence-associated dermatitis, one of the main challenges in patient care.
The development of the line was driven by a European study conducted by the company involving more than 2,500 people living with adult incontinence. The research showed that skin irritation in the intimate area remains frequent and directly impacts patients’ comfort and well-being.
“About 80% of caregivers are not trained to recognize dermatitis. Education and better product design are essential to prevent complications,” said Dr. Maria Panourgia, geriatrician at Milton Keynes University Hospital in the UK.
The Sensitive line was designed to combine leak protection with dermatological care, addressing the needs of healthcare institutions and professionals responsible for the ongoing care of patients with adult incontinence.
Technical features of the incontinence products include a skin-contact layer enriched with botanical ingredients; Y-core technology for immediate absorption; absorption up to 2.5 times faster compared to previous versions of the iD and Serenity lines; hypoallergenic design for sensitive skin; and odor control technology.
These features aim to reduce the risk of incontinence-associated dermatitis, a recurring condition in hospitals and long-term care facilities.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING IN ADULT INCONTINENCE CARE
In addition to developing adult incontinence products, Ontex has also expanded its training initiatives for healthcare professionals and caregivers. The company provides guidance on identifying, preventing and treating incontinence-associated dermatitis through its network of nurse consultants and the digital Ontex Academy platform.
Tatiana Bumachar Carvalho Pastori, Senior Marketing Manager for Adult Care, said that “the Sensitive line was developed to help people with incontinence live their daily lives more comfortably. At the same time, it provides healthcare professionals with a product they can trust, making it easier to deliver the best possible care, supported by our training opportunities.”
The launch of the Sensitive line highlights the ongoing evolution of the disposable personal care market, with manufacturers investing in material innovation, absorption performance and clinical support to enhance care for patients living with adult incontinence.
