Essity announces Ulrika Kolsrud as new president and CEO
The executive will replace Magnus Groth and lead the company into a new phase of growth and profitability from June 2025

Essity’s Board of Directors announced on Thursday, May 9, the appointment of Ulrika Kolsrud as the company’s new President and CEO. She will take over on June 1, 2025, succeeding Magnus Groth, who had previously announced his departure earlier this year.
Ulrika Kolsrud currently serves as president of Essity’s Health & Medical business unit and has been a member of the executive leadership team since 2015. According to the chairman of the board, Jan Gurander, she has solid experience across the entire value chain – from innovation to production and sales – as well as an “engaging and positive” leadership style.
“We are entering a phase of increased focus on growth and profitability, and our 36,000 employees around the world will be instrumental in this process,” commented Gurander.
The future CEO said she was honored by the board’s confidence and motivated by the new challenge: “I see great potential in the company, and it is with great enthusiasm that I take on this assignment. I look forward to working with Essity’s fantastic employees to make a real difference for our customers, deliver profitable growth, and take Essity to the next level”, she said.
Ulrika Kolsrud is 54 years old, has a degree in Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology and will be based at the company’s global headquarters in Stockholm.
