GVH approves Vajda-Papír’s acquisition of Sofidel Hungary’s private label household paper business

The Hungarian Competition Authority cleared the transaction without conditions, concluding that the acquisition is not expected to significantly reduce competition in the relevant markets

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has approved the acquisition of the private label household paper manufacturing and partial sales business of Sofidel Hungary Kft. by Vajda-Papír Kft., clearing the transaction without imposing any commitments or conditions.

According to the competition authority, the transaction is not expected to significantly reduce competition in the relevant markets. The approval fulfills one of the key regulatory requirements needed to complete the acquisition.

Vajda-Papír said the acquisition is intended to strengthen its regional position in the household paper market while expanding its production capacity.

Attila Vajda, founder and managing director of the Vajda-Papír Group, stated that the objective of the transaction is to further strengthen the company’s regional presence in the household paper market, as well as to increase service and supply security by expanding production capacity.
