International Paper to close Carrollton South packaging facility in Texas

The company will shut down the site by the end of the third quarter of 2026 as part of a strategy to align manufacturing capacity with customer demand and strengthen its North American packaging business

International Paper has announced plans to permanently close its Carrollton South packaging facility in Carrollton, Texas, by the end of the third quarter of 2026. The move is part of the company’s strategy to better align its manufacturing operations with customer demand while enhancing the long-term competitiveness of its North American packaging business.

According to the company, the decision follows ongoing evaluations of its manufacturing network aimed at allocating resources more effectively and supporting customer needs. International Paper stated that the closure is consistent with its long-term operational strategy.

“Decisions that affect our people and our communities are never made lightly. We’re committed to supporting our Carrollton South team members throughout this transition,” said Keith Townsend, Group Vice President, North America Packaging East, International Paper. “Customers will be serviced at other International Paper facilities in the region.”

International Paper said employees impacted by the closure will receive severance packages, continued benefits and outplacement assistance as part of the transition process.
