Marcal Paper announced the completion of the acquisition of St. Catharines Tissue Mill, a tissue and specialty TAD paper producer located in Ontario and previously owned by BiOrigin Specialty Products. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1912, the St. Catharines mill is considered one of the longest-operating paper mills in North America. The facility produces high-quality TAD parent rolls used in premium tissue products, including bath tissue and paper towels for both at-home and away-from-home markets, as well as a range of specialty papers.
According to the company, the acquisition will expand Marcal’s production capabilities and reinforce its position in the premium tissue segment. The company also highlighted the experience of the St. Catharines workforce and the mill’s longstanding expertise in specialty paper innovation.
Headquartered in New Jersey, Marcal currently operates nine manufacturing facilities across the United States, supplying tissue products to commercial and institutional customers nationwide.
