
Last Wednesday, the 10th, Jackson Wijaya, founder of Paper Excellence – one of the largest and most diversified pulp and paper producers in the world – and shareholder of Eldorado Celulose, met with Brazilian authorities for breakfast in New York, accompanied by by Claudio Cotrim, CEO of the company in Brazil.
On the occasion, Wijaya spoke about his plans to make new strategic investments in the country, in addition to the construction of the new Eldorado Celulose production line scheduled for Mato Grosso do Sul.
“We have plans to invest US$ 4 billion in a new project in Brazil for 2.5 million tons of cellulose”, revealed Wijaya.
The pulp producer is looking for the best region for the new investment, which will generate more than 2,500 direct jobs, in addition to the indirect ones that will be hired during the construction works.
During the meeting, the company’s founder also spoke about socio-environmental responsibility and Paper Excellence’s global initiatives within the ESG and decarbonization strategy in each region where it operates.
With almost two decades of history, since its creation, Paper Excellence has carried out recurring environmental investments and operational improvements in its facilities, which guaranteed the company the recent recognition of the BC Cleantech Awards 2023, in Canada, for innovations in the clean energy and sustainable.
Currently, 96% of the group’s electricity consumption is renewable, in addition, 100% of its forestry operations are internationally certified.
