Edilio Stefani, chairman of the Sofidel Group, died suddenly last Thursday morning at his home. The information was confirmed by the family, who announced the executive’s death.
Born in Lucca, Italy, on January 31, 1960, Stefani began his career with the company in 1980, alongside his father, Cavaliere del Lavoro and co-founder Emi Stefani. His first position was at the fine paper mill in Porcari (Lucca), now known as Soffass Via Leccio, where he deepened his knowledge of paper production and converting. During these years, Sofidel consolidated its leadership in the Italian market and began a process of internationalization, first in Europe and then in the United States in 2012.
