Georgia-Pacific transforms space at the Ronald McDonald House with furnished room donation

The initiative provides comfort to families of hospitalized children in New Jersey, USA

Georgia-Pacific (GP) has announced the donation of a fully furnished room to the Ronald McDonald House in southern New Jersey (NJ), in the United States. The initiative aims to create a welcoming and functional space for families accompanying their children’s medical treatments at nearby hospitals.

The room, equipped with modern furniture, comfortable bedding, and homely details, was designed to offer not physical comfort and emotional relief. “Families facing medical challenges deserve support, comfort, and a sense of community”, said Mark Murphy, plant manager for Georgia-Pacific Industrial Plasters in Camden, NJ. “We are honored to contribute to the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey and support the incredible work they do for families in need. It’s our way of giving back to the City of Camden and standing by those who are navigating some of life’s toughest moments”, he said.

The space also features a special touch: its décor was inspired by Georgia-Pacific’s Angel Soft brand. “It features a large mural with some of the brand’s heavenly characters on it. We thought this would be a nice addition to the room because it shows a side of Georgia-Pacific associated with care, strength, and comfort, three themes that are a vital part of our partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities”, explained Murphy.

The Ronald McDonald House, which provides a “home-away-from-home” for families with hospitalized children, relies on donations to sustain its operations. According to Tracey Sharpe, executive director of the Southern New Jersey Ronald McDonald House, Georgia-Pacific’s contribution is invaluable. “The renovated family bedroom suite provided by GP will ease the burden of dozens of families each year, as they stay in our ‘home-away-from-home’ during an extremely stressful time. The support of GP is immeasurable as we can never put a price on a cozy and warm place to call home when your child is ill or injured. We are so grateful for the new bedroom suite and all the hours of dedicated work GP employees poured into making it so welcoming”, she said.

This donation is part of the company’s broader commitment to investing in initiatives that positively impact the communities where it operates.
