Metsä Group wins international award for promoting forest biodiversity

Metsä Group’s forest management model, Metsä Group Plus, developed to enhance forest biodiversity, was honored at the 2024 Quality Innovation Award ceremony.

This international award recognizes innovations with high relevance and impact. Metsä Group Plus stood out for its hands-on approach, offering effective measures to support the preservation and regeneration of forest ecosystems.

Designed for the cooperative’s owner-members, the model includes actions such as increasing the number of retention trees per hectare and creating high stumps that benefit biodiversity. The initiative is being expanded, with new practices scheduled for September, including the replacement of clear-cutting with continuous cover methods in wetland areas.
