CMPC Ventures and Boreal Bioproducts in a partnership for sustainable forest industry products

CMPC Ventures and Boreal Bioproducts have announced a cooperation agreement aimed at investigating the potential of CMPC’s wood by-products in the process of manufacturing bio-based chemical and cosmetic products. The main objective of this strategic alliance is to explore the feasibility of using by-products from the forestry industry to manufacture products such as shampoos and sunscreens, among others, with ingredients from bio-based sources instead of fossil components.

Over the next 18 months, both companies will study the capabilities of CMPC’s wood by-products, obtained from the handling of wood chips and bark, and from the pulp manufacturing process and wood handling in sawmills. The objective is to integrate these by-products into Boreal Bioproducts’ bio-based production value chain.

It is important to note that Boreal Bioproducts uses exclusively water as a solvent and renewable energy sources throughout its production process, which reinforces its commitment to environmental sustainability.
