First Quality Tissue building community with Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County
Along with annual funding, employees can volunteer for two build days, as well as assist with other volunteer activities such as clean-ups from other builds
Each year, the First Quality Tissue team in Anderson, South Carolina, joins a build for Habitat for Humanity® of Anderson County. They spend two days working on site at a home build, putting up framing, hanging drywall and installing windows – whatever is needed to help a family realize their dream of home ownership.
Habitat for Humanity (“Habitat”) is a global nonprofit organization that strives to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County has been empowering families and strengthening communities for more than 35 years, providing affordable, sustainable homeownership for more than 60 families.
“What I like about volunteering with Habitat is that we work alongside future homeowners as they build sweat equity in their homes,” said Karen Holtz-Simmons, Engineering Manager at First Quality. “At First Quality, we have a lot of people who like to build things, but even if you’ve never swung a hammer, Habitat will teach you.”
First Quality has supported Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County since 2019. Along with annual funding, employees can volunteer for two build days, as well as assist with other volunteer activities such as clean-ups from other builds.
“Our mission could not succeed without the financial and volunteer contributions First Quality brings to our organization,” said Kylie Herbert, Development Director at Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County. “And they do it with so much heart. I have the pleasure of getting to be on the construction site when they come out to build with us. They all have hearts of gold and put their whole selves into helping build safe, affordable homes.”
The Habitat for Humanity mission is one that aligns with First Quality’s own belief that everyone deserves access to high quality, affordable essentials. “First Quality employees are awesome volunteers,” said Herbert. “The company is more than a community partner; First Quality is a member of our Habitat family.”
