Georgia-Pacific announces US$90 million investment in Crossett, Arkansas plant

Investment will boost consumer tissue business and create 50 new jobs in the state

Georgia-Pacific has announced a US$90 million investment in its plant located in Crossett, Arkansas, United States, to expand its retail tissue converting capacity. The initiative, which includes the production of high-quality toilet paper such as the Angel Soft® brand, will create 50 new jobs and strengthen the company’s presence in the region. Initial production is scheduled for 2026, and by the end of the project, Georgia-Pacific’s cumulative investments in the unit since 2019 will total more than US$250 million.

“This truly is an investment in our customers and consumers who appreciate the quality of our products,” said Vivek Joshi, president of the retail tissue, towel, and napkin business for Georgia-Pacific. “It is a clear indication of Georgia-Pacific’s focus on growing our premium tissue business and creating products that consumers value.”

With more than 400 employees currently, the Crossett plant plays a strategic role in the production of tissue for the end consumer. “I am proud of our Crossett team members and their ongoing work to make this a safe, competitive and strategic location for our Consumer Products business,” highlighted Deb Coduto, vice president of manufacturing, at the Crossett mill. “This investment reflects their dedication to our mill, our customers and consumers and to the community that supports us.”

SUPPORT FROM LOCAL AND STATE LEADERS

The initiative received praise from community and government leaders. Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders highlighted the project’s positive impact on the local economy. “I had the opportunity to visit Georgia-Pacific’s facility in Crossett this time last year and observe the phenomenal work they do to boost our economy – and our country,” she said.

Crossett Mayor Crystal Marshall celebrated the long-standing partnership with Georgia-Pacific and its positive impact on the community. “We are proud that Crossett was selected as the location for this new investment by Georgia-Pacific. We are excited to further enhance our strong partnership that goes back generations and look forward to a bright future together.”

Clint O’Neal, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, also highlighted the relevance of the investment to the region: “This is a big win for Crossett, creating 50 new jobs for Arkansans in the area, and shows that southeast Arkansas is strong and well positioned for continued economic development success.”

Georgia-Pacific’s decision reinforces the importance of the city of Crossett as a strategic hub in the forest products sector, while promoting economic growth and job creation.
