Georgia-Pacific receives recognition for its industrial safety and innovation initiatives
Industry organizations highlighted the company’s efforts to reduce operational risks and enhance worker protection through technology and process improvements
Georgia-Pacific has been recognized by industry organizations for implementing initiatives aimed at strengthening workplace safety and reducing operational risks across its facilities.
One of the recognitions was awarded by the National Safety Council (NSC) during the 2026 NSC Safety Congress & Expo Awards ceremony. The company received the Networks Catalyst in Safety Award for developing and implementing innovative solutions designed to address long-standing safety challenges in industrial environments.
Among the initiatives highlighted was Omni Pro, a tool that uses camera technology and artificial intelligence to help protect workers in manufacturing environments where industrial vehicles operate. The solution was developed to identify potential hazards and improve safety in interactions between mobile equipment and personnel.
In addition, teams at Georgia-Pacific’s corrugated packaging facility in Denton, Texas, implemented a project focused on improving pedestrian safety within the site. The initiative included the installation of an automated pedestrian crossing system equipped with barriers, gates, and traffic signals to regulate the movement of people and vehicles in loading and unloading areas.
According to the company, the system keeps pedestrian walkways open by default and automatically restricts access when trucks enter the area, enabling safer and more controlled traffic flow. The project earned Georgia-Pacific the Fibre Box Association’s Safety Innovation Award for the second consecutive year.
Georgia-Pacific stated that its safety programs encourage employees at all levels of the organization to identify risks and contribute to the development of solutions that help prevent workplace incidents. The company noted that the recognitions reflect the collaborative efforts of its teams and its ongoing commitment to advancing safety practices across the industry.
