Georgia-Pacific’s Muskogee mill celebrates 50 years of tissue manufacturing
Oklahoma facility marks five decades of operations with a Family Day event celebrating employees, retirees, and its contribution to the local community
Georgia-Pacific’s Muskogee mill in Oklahoma has celebrated 50 years of operations, marking five decades of manufacturing, technological development, and community engagement. The milestone was commemorated with a Family Day event bringing together employees, retirees, families, and friends to reflect on the facility’s history and future.
Construction of the mill began in 1976, and the facility has since grown into one of the leading tissue manufacturing operations in the United States. Today, it employs more than 700 people and operates 24 hours a day, producing tissue, towel, and napkin products for customers across North America.
The anniversary event featured family activities, employee recognition, mill tours, and opportunities for current and former employees to reconnect. Visitors also had the chance to learn more about the facility’s operations, history, and ongoing investments in innovation and sustainability.

“Celebrating 50 years is really about celebrating the people who have made this mill what it is today,” said Korrey Kerstetter, Mill Manager. “For five decades, generations of employees have demonstrated resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. We are proud of our history, grateful for those who helped build it, and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.”
Over the past five decades, the Muskogee mill has undergone investments, modernization, and technological upgrades while maintaining its focus on workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and community involvement.
The facility is also one of the region’s largest private employers and works with local organizations, workforce development initiatives, and community programs, contributing to economic opportunities for generations of Oklahomans.
The Family Day celebration also recognized longtime employees and retirees whose contributions helped shape the mill’s development. The gathering provided an opportunity to reflect on the facility’s role in the lives of its workforce, their families, and the wider Muskogee community.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on the future,” Kerstetter said. “The same entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and commitment to people that built this mill 50 years ago will continue to guide us as we serve our customers, support our community, and create value for years to come.”
