Paper Excellence launches third year of EIT program for emerging engineers

In collaboration with prestigious institutions, the program offers young engineers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development in various areas of the company

Paper Excellence has announced the launch of the third year of its engineers-in-training (EIT) program, highlighting its commitment to fostering new talent in the pulp and paper industry. Over the past three years, the company has welcomed 20 young EITs into its operations, with 15 of them choosing to stay and grow within the organization.

Recruitment is initiated in partnership with leading post-secondary institutions, such as the British Columbia Institute of Technology, the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, the University of Toronto and the University of Saskatchewan, attracting the best recent graduates. Those selected will begin an 18-month program, rotating through various operations to gain experience working with diverse teams in different plants and communities. During this process, mentors will provide guidance, training and ongoing support to ensure constant feedback.

At the end of the 18 months, the EIT operations and plant teams have the opportunity to select a member for a permanent full-time position within Paper Excellence. This employment relationship begins immediately after selection.

Paper Excellence’s EIT program is primarily aimed at developing internal junior-level talent and promoting knowledge and technology transfer between different generations of engineers. By focusing on professional and personal growth, it seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice for program participants. Recent graduates bring new ideas and dynamic energy to operations, creating a mutually beneficial environment.
