Suzano, the largest pulp producer in the world, reported that it should reduce the production volume of market pulp by 4% throughout 2023, in relation to the nominal capacity and historical volumes registered by the company.
“This decision is based on the fact that such volume would not bring adequate return for the company at a time of more complex pulp market”, said the company in a statement. However, the change will not affect contracts with customers and suppliers.
The production of eucalyptus pulp is used to supply 100% of Suzano’s paper manufacturing demand, and the rest is sold, earning the name market pulp.
By the end of 2022, Suzano’s installed capacity for the production of market pulp was 10.9 million tons, reaffirming its title as the largest producer of market pulp in the world.
