West Fraser, a diversified wood products company with more than 60 facilities in Canada, the US, the UK, and Europe, announced that its Mansfield Sawmill and Opelika Sawmill were awarded the Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA) 2020 Sawmill Safety Award in Division II and III, respectively.
According to the company, for the second year in a row, the Opelika Sawmill maintained a perfect safety record, with no recordable occupational injuries or illnesses.
This is the first time their Mansfield Sawmill has received this award and West Fraser commend their focus on continuous improvement for safety.
“Safety is a top priority at West Fraser,” the company wrote on a LinkedIn note.
Chuck Watkins, Vice President of Capital and Technology at West Fraser accepted the awards on both mills’ behalf.
