Metsä Group to design €300 million cost savings program amid profitability challenges
Planned measures target procurement, logistics, wood supply optimization and fixed costs, with gradual execution from 2026

Facing a period of weak profitability and an uncertain market outlook, Metsä Group is preparing a broad program to cut costs and boost results. The plan aims to reach annual savings of around €300 million, to be introduced gradually beginning in 2026.
According to the company, the program’s planning should be concluded by the end of this quarter. The initiative will prioritize lowering procurement and logistics expenses, streamlining the wood supply chain from forest operations to production facilities, and reducing fixed costs.
Metsä Group highlighted that no temporary or permanent production unit closures are included in the initiative.
In parallel, each business area within the group intends to strengthen its performance by reviewing and refining commercial strategies.
