Baltimore Sisters Make Eco-Friendly Toilet Paper
Amid COVID-19 pandemic, the sisters make toilet paper out of bamboo
Amid the pandemic, sisters Nnadagi Isa and Louise had launched lor tush, a sustainable toilet paper company that offers hypoallergenic bamboo rolls.
Located in downtown Baltimore, Maryland, the company became known for its fun packaging and, most importantly, for donating its products to neighbors and people in need during the pandemic.
According to The Baltimore Sun, the sisters donated nearly 5,000 rolls of toilet paper to Baltimorans during the coronavirus pandemic following the launch of the business in 2018.
“We decided to just donate our first round. So we quickly created a website for people that spoke to people who were in financial trouble, people who were immunocompromised,” Nnadagi Isa said.
Toilet paper is made 100% from bamboo, which, according to Nnagadi, is better for the environment than parchment paper because it grows quickly and is abundant.
Now the sisters are signing a contract to supply their product at a Baltimore hotel. According to News Break, Hotel Revival bought the toilet paper after its Director of Culture and Impact, Jason Bass, met Nnagadi Isa and says they are looking for ways to support local and minority-owned businesses.
“It’s a women-owned business, Black-owned business from Baltimore, so for us, it meant a lot to be able to support,” Bass said. “Our guests really love the toilet paper and they love it so much that we found our supply dwindling because guests will sometimes take it with them.”
