Sofidel receives FSC® Italy award for its contribution to responsible forest management

The recognition highlights the tissue manufacturer’s long-standing partnership with FSC® and its commitment to certified raw materials, with 95% of its virgin pulp sourced from FSC®-certified forests and FSC® Controlled Wood sources

Sofidel, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of paper for hygienic and household use and the company behind the Regina brand, has received an award from FSC® Italy in recognition of its contribution to promoting responsible forest management.

The award was presented in Florence during “Radici Comuni,” an event celebrating the first 25 years of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Italy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting responsible forest management and sustainable supply chains. The ceremony also featured the “Radici Comuni” Awards, which recognize organizations driving the transition toward sustainability in Italy.

The award was accepted by Riccardo Balducci, Group Sustainability Director at Sofidel, and presented by FSC® International Director General Subhra Bhattacharjee, alongside FSC® Italy President Maria Rita Gallozzi and Director Giuseppe Bonanno. Balducci also participated as a speaker in a discussion on the bioeconomy and the development of forest-based supply chains.

RECOGNITION OF A LONG-STANDING PARTNERSHIP

The award citation recognized Sofidel’s consistent efforts to promote FSC®-certified products and incorporate responsible forest management into its business practices.

The citation reads: “To Sofidel S.p.A. (FSC®-certified company, FSC®-C017535) for its extraordinary consistency and large-scale impact in promoting FSC®-certified products, a testament to its well-established and forward-looking leadership. A long-standing partner of FSC® Italy and a member of FSC® International, Sofidel has distinguished itself as a pioneer in integrating the ‘Forests For All Forever’ brand into its product packaging, bringing the value and message of responsible forest management directly into the homes of millions of consumers. With a virtuous and forward-looking vision, Sofidel reaffirms its role as a cornerstone in promoting environmental sustainability on a global scale.”

Sofidel’s partnership with FSC® Italy began in 2002 and has strengthened over the years, establishing the Group as one of the organization’s longest-standing and most recognizable partners.

“This award is a great honor for us and belongs to the entire Group,” said Riccardo Balducci, Group Sustainability Director at Sofidel. “Twenty-four years of collaboration with FSC® demonstrate that integrating responsible forest management into a business model is possible and that doing so consistently over time creates a real impact. Continuing along this path is an essential commitment for us and one of the fundamental pillars of our ecological transition journey and our efforts to promote consumption models aligned with our long-term sustainability goals.”

FSC® Italy President Maria Rita Gallozzi also highlighted the role of companies in advancing responsible forest management and strengthening sustainable supply chains.

“Celebrating FSC® Italia’s 25th anniversary means honoring a journey built on shared people, vision, and courage,” commented Maria Rita Gallozzi, President of FSC® Italy. “The ‘Radici Comuni’ awards and Sofidel’s commitment demonstrate that responsible forest management is not an abstract concept, but a daily practice brought to life by companies and communities that have been able to innovate and lead the way. Looking to the future, these organizations represent the essential starting point for addressing the major challenges of the ecological transition and combating the climate crisis, by building increasingly ethical and resilient supply chains.”

CERTIFIED RAW MATERIALS SUPPORT SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY

Sofidel’s commitment to responsible sourcing is reflected in its procurement of virgin pulp. According to company data for the first half of 2026, 100% of the virgin pulp it sources is certified under recognized forest certification schemes, with 95% coming from FSC®-certified forests and FSC® Controlled Wood sources.

The Group’s broader sustainability efforts have also been recognized by CDP, through an A- rating for forest management and the highest score of A for sustainable timber management (Timber).

The recognition from FSC® Italy reinforces Sofidel’s long-term focus on responsible forest management and the role of certified raw materials in supporting more sustainable production and supply chains.
