Cascades Canada establishes strategic partnership with Solifor to optimize forest assets
The agreement includes the sale of 10,500 hectares of forest land and secures long-term supply for the Cabano facility
Cascades Inc., based in Canada, announced the establishment of a strategic partnership with forest asset management firm Solifor, aimed at optimizing the value of its forest assets in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.
As part of the agreement, Solifor acquired private forest lands located in Kamouraska and Témiscouata, covering approximately 10,500 hectares previously managed by Cascades for more than 25 years. The transaction, valued at $20 million, was completed on March 31, 2026.
The agreement will support the continued sustainable development of these assets while securing long-term fiber supply for Cascades’ Cabano facility, strengthening its operational competitiveness.
Cascades highlighted that the partnership provides access to a broader forest resource base through Solifor, which owns extensive land near its operations. Solifor noted that the integration of these assets aligns with its strategy of responsible forest management, focused on long-term value creation, balanced land use, and contributing to climate change mitigation.
Both companies have a strong presence in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, where Cascades has operated for over 50 years, while Solifor has been active for more than 15 years.
