Étienne Vézina has been appointed to the Board of Directors of FSC Canada

Étienne will replace Andre Gravel (economic chamber) who has decided to resign from his position.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an organization dedicated to protecting animal habitats, indigenous peoples’ rights, workers’ rights, and areas of environmental and cultural importance, welcomed Étienne Vézina, to the FSC Canada Board of Directors.

According to Lesprom, Étienne started working on forest certification in 2004, helping companies implement the FSC boreal standard on public lands in the province of Quebec. He became a qualified auditor for FSC, FM and COC standards in 2008 and remained in his position until 2013 as an independent consultant.

During those years, Étienne conducted 50 different FSC audits for SAI Global, as lead auditor of FSC forest management audits, on both public and private lands. He also continued to work as a consultant helping various companies implement their FSC space FM and COC systems.

Étienne will replace Andre Gravel (economic chamber) who has decided to resign from his position, and from now on, he will be the Manager of Forestry and Certification for Resolute Forest Products, where he will oversee the forest management of the entire company.

Vézina has been appointed manager in accordance with the FSC Canada Statutes, which allow for the election of the chamber candidate with the next highest number of votes in the most recent elections.
